On Friday evening at 6:30, seven members of Grace Baptist Church joined with about twenty members of First Baptist Church in Albion to participate in the annual "Secret Church" simulcast. Secret Church is hosted by David Platt, President of the International Mission Board, and has more than 50,000 participants each year. The evening includes about 4 hours of intensive Bible study, combined with information and prayer for the persecuted. This year's focus was the nation of Iran. This was my first year participating in the simulcast, and it was a joy. Hoping for many more to join us next year. Please be our guest for two special worship events!
Good Friday Service: Friday Evening, April 14th, 6:30pm, at Grace Baptist Church. This will be a joint service with South Side Bible Church in Battle Creek. The evening will feature congregational singing, instrumentals, solos, ensembles, and a few thoughts from our pastor. The auditorium will be packed, so come early and find a good seat!
Easter Worship Service: Sunday Morning, April 16th, 10:00am, at Grace Baptist Church. Join us as we celebrate the resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday with singing, Scripture readings, and a message from our pastor.
At both services you will find a welcoming atmosphere, you will meet many great people, and you will learn about the importance of the death and resurrection of Christ for today. Childcare will be provided. We hope to see you there!
Recently, Pastor Brandon and Matt Domsic returned from a week-long ministry trip to the Middle East. In the region they visited, only 0.2% of the population holds an evangelical faith. They were able to meet with a number of Christian leaders during their visit, and worshipped in an evangelical church. They offered a full report of their activities to the congregation of Grace Baptist Church on Sunday evening, March 26. Please pray for the church in the Middle East. Pray that the gospel would take root and flourish!
The gospel is the heart of the Christian faith, and the atonement is the heart of the gospel. In this book, Pastor Brandon explores the doctrine of atonement as it was understood by America's greatest theologian--Jonathan Edwards--setting his doctrine in the context of both his historical predecessors and his broader theology.
Our hope is that the Lord will use this book to spark new interest in Jonathan Edwards and the nature of Christ's atonement. If you would like to obtain a copy of the book, the best price is found directly on the publisher's website: http://wipfandstock.com/jonathan-edwards-on-the-atonement.html
During a combined Growth Groups hour on Sunday, January 22, Pastor Brandon delivered his annual "State of the Church Address." He recounted the remarkable accomplishments of Grace Baptist Church in 2016, which included (1) Becoming completely debt free; (2) Beginning major renovations to the church facility (all paid for in cash); (3) Launching the Ministry Scholarship Program; (4) Establishing a church library; and (5) Planting a new daughter church, "Shiloh Baptist Church," just outside of Washington, D.C.
Then, Pastor Brandon outlined an ambitious agenda for 2017. God willing, we will be launching our Community Groups ministry in the spring, ordaining an Associate Pastor in the summer, increasing our financial and time commitments to our missionaries (including an overseas missions trip), and launching additional church facility renovation projects.
What an exciting time to be at Grace Baptist Church!
Every year, just before our annual business meeting, Pastor Brandon delivers his "State of the Church Address" during a combined Growth Groups hour in the main auditorium. The purpose of the address is to remind us all of our church's mission and vision, to review the successes of the previous year, and to lay out the agenda for the next 12 months. We invite you to be a part of this event and hear what is happening at Grace in 2017! The address will run from 11:15am-noon on 1/22/17.
Don't miss our annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on December 24th at 6:00pm at the church! The evening will last about one hour and will include traditional Christmas carols, Scripture readings, vocal and instrumental performances, and a brief message from our pastor. The next day, December 25th, all church services are cancelled EXCEPT for worship at 10:00am, where we will commemorate Christ's birth with celebratory hymns and a Christmas-themed sermon from our pastor.
A special thanks to all the volunteers who have packed shoe boxes this week and delivered them to Grace Baptist Church for shipment overseas! Collection Week continues until November 21st, so you still have time to join in. Call the church office if you have any questions.
